GUSDA Launches Inaugural TC Baynes Dominoes Shield at Guyana Family Sports & Fun Day 2025
GUSDA honours the late TC Baynes with the inaugural Dominoes Shield Tournament at the Guyana Family Sports & Fun Day on Sunday 27 July 2025. The knockout-style competition runs from 3pm at Croydon Sports Arena, with registration open via Eventbrite and places limited to 21 players.
GUSDA is proud to announce the inaugural TC Baynes Dominoes Shield Tournament, taking place at the Guyana Family Sports & Fun Day on Sunday 27 July 2025.
The tournament is a tribute to the late TC Baynes, a beloved figure in our community remembered for his passion for dominoes and the warmth he brought to every gathering. We invite players of all abilities to come and compete in his honour.
The competition follows a knockout format open to all genders, with a maximum of 21 players. Games will be played in the King Dominoes style, with sets of three — the first player to reach four wins advances through the rounds. The semi-final and final stages follow the same structure, with the final played first to six wins.
The tournament begins at approximately 3pm and runs through to 6pm at Croydon Sports Arena, Albert Road, London SE25 4QL.
Places are limited, so register early via Eventbrite to secure your spot. Join us for an afternoon of friendly competition, community spirit and a fitting tribute to a much-missed friend.

GUSDA Celebrates Diaspora Excellence at Annual Folk Festival Awards Ceremony
The 25 May Awards Ceremony at Norbury High School recognised outstanding contributions across the Guyanese diaspora, presented by Guyana High Commissioner Dr Rajendra Singh. Honourees included June Givanni, Sybil Phoenix MBE, Reverend Canon Emeritus Ivelaw Bowman, Guyana SPEAKS, Xavier Alexander and the Guyana (UK) Kwe Kwe Group.
